The problem

You're in two meetings. Both are talking at you.

Modern work means juggling multiple calls — a client meeting, a team standup, an all-hands — all running simultaneously in separate tabs.

Google Meet gives you a mic mute button. But there's no speaker mute. You either hear everything or you leave.

MeetMute adds the missing control: silence any meeting's audio output without leaving, without disrupting, and without touching your system volume.

Common questions

No catch. MeetMute is completely free with all features included — no trial, no subscription, no premium tier. It's a small tool built to solve a specific problem, and it's open to everyone.
No. MeetMute only sets the browser's native .muted property on audio and video elements in the page. It never intercepts, records, or transmits any audio data. Zero data collection of any kind.
No. MeetMute mutes your speaker output only — it's like turning down the volume on one tab without touching anything else. Your microphone stays active in all meetings, and participants in other calls won't see any change.
When you open a Google Meet tab, a small floating button appears in the bottom-right corner of the page. It shows 🔊 when audio is active and 🔇 when muted. Click it anytime to toggle the speaker without opening the extension popup. It stays in sync with the popup controls.
Focus Mode lets you pick one meeting to listen to while automatically muting all others with a single click. It appears as a "⊙ Focus" button on each meeting card in the popup when you have two or more Meet tabs open.
MeetMute is currently built specifically for Google Meet (meet.google.com). Support for Microsoft Teams and other platforms may be added in future releases.
